Slate helps teachers get through a stack of marking faster — by hand, or with AI drafting the first pass. Free, with no account and nothing stored in anyone's cloud.
A marking assistant, not a marking service.
Capture pages with the Android document scanner — edge detection, straightening and multi-page capture, up to 30 pages at a time.
Write your own feedback and tag each point as a strength, improvement or error. Attach marks and turn the total into a score.
Connect an OpenRouter account and let a model of your choosing draft the feedback first. Entirely optional — every feature works without it.
Turn any marked piece into a clean PDF and email it straight to a student or parent, with the report attached.
Per-student averages and scores over time, plus a class overview showing how the group is doing and where the common problems are.
Classes, pages, scores and comments live in the app's private storage. There is no account to create and nothing syncs anywhere.
The short version: we do not collect anything.
Slate for Android · Version 3.0.0 · Last updated 26 September 2026
Slate has no accounts, no servers and no analytics. Everything you create stays in the app's private storage on your device, and the developer never receives it.
Slate is published by Hermann von Marsoner, Via Merano 5, 39011 Lana (BZ), Italy. For any question about this policy, or to make a data protection request, write to corect.it.app@gmail.com.
Nothing. We operate no servers, no database and no backend of any kind. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service, no social media SDK and no tracking or attribution libraries. We do not use cookies, device identifiers or advertising IDs. We cannot see how you use the app, and we have no way to identify you.
The app stores the following in its own private storage, readable only by the app:
None of this is transmitted to us. Other apps on your device cannot read it. Uninstalling Slate permanently deletes all of it, and you can delete individual classes, students, submissions and comments inside the app at any time.

So you can photograph student work. Images are handed to the Android system document scanner and saved to the app's private storage. Nothing is uploaded. |
INTERNET |
Used only when you have connected an AI provider and explicitly ask for AI feedback. With no provider connected, the app makes no network requests. |
The app deliberately does not request access to your photo gallery or media library. It asks for no location, contacts, microphone, storage or phone permissions.
AI assistance is switched off by default and is never required. If you choose to connect an OpenRouter account in Settings, then only at the moment you ask for AI feedback on a specific submission:
This transfer runs directly between your device and OpenRouter. It does not pass through any system we operate, and we never receive, see or store the content. Your relationship with OpenRouter is governed by their terms and privacy policy — openrouter.ai/privacy. Your API key is held only on your device and can be removed at any time by signing out in Settings.
International transfers. OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to are generally located outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. If you enable AI marking, page images may therefore be processed outside the EEA under OpenRouter's own safeguards. If that matters for your school, leave AI marking switched off — the app is fully functional without it.
Slate is a tool for teachers and is not directed at children; it is not designed for or marketed to anyone under 13, and no child ever creates an account, because the app has no accounts at all.
Teachers using the app will photograph work produced by their students, who may be minors. That material is stored only on the teacher's own device and is never transmitted to us. Because the data never reaches us, the teacher or their school remains the data controller for it under the GDPR, and we act as neither controller nor processor of it.
If you enable optional AI marking, page images of student work are sent to OpenRouter as described in section 5. In that case the teacher or school is the controller and OpenRouter acts as their processor. Teachers are responsible for confirming that their school permits this, and for obtaining any consent their institution requires, before switching AI marking on. Where you are unsure, keep it off and mark by hand.
The app can generate a PDF report of the feedback for a submission and pass it to another app you choose, such as your email client. That happens only when you tap Email or Share, the file goes only where you send it, and we are not party to the transfer. Generated PDFs are written to the app's private cache and are removed by Android when space is reclaimed, or when you clear the app's storage.
We do not sell, rent, trade or share personal data, because we hold none. We have no advertising partners, no data brokers and no third-party recipients. The only outbound data flow in the entire app is the optional one described in section 5, and you control it.
App data lives in Android's private per-app storage, which the operating system isolates from other apps, and is covered by your device's own encryption. Requests to OpenRouter, when enabled, use TLS. Because we store nothing centrally, there is no server-side database of yours to breach.
We retain nothing, as we receive nothing. Data you create is kept on your device for as long as you keep it. Deleting an item removes it; uninstalling the app removes everything.
Under the GDPR and comparable laws you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. In practice you exercise all of them directly: the data is on your device, under your control, and you can view, edit, export as PDF or delete it at any time without asking us. We hold no copy to act on. If you believe your data has been mishandled you may complain to your local supervisory authority; in Italy that is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes affecting how the app handles data will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
